Business Observations
1. Some businesses have been very successful. Two very profitable businesses have been D&M Designs and Macho Nachos.
a. Why do you think they are so profitable? The businesses, D&M Designs and Macho Nachos, are so profitable because they are selling things that are in demand. Macho Nachos are selling nachos, cookies, and drinks. D&M Designs are selling homemade jewelry for girls.
b. Five very successful businesses in American history are: Apple, Yahoo, Mcdonalds, Toyota, and Game Stop. Apple is successful because they sell electronics that are in demand. The same goes for Game Stop. They sell video game and accessories that people want to buy. Mcdonalds is successful because they sell nice food at reasonable prices. To top it all of, it's popular because you can get the food fast if you are in a hurry. Toyota is successful because they sell automobiles for an economy that needs them. Although Yahoo doesn't make a profit, it is very popular because it provide different things for people. The stock value for Yahoo is high and that's how it is successful.
2. Fruity Tutee's business did not make a profit because they might have spent more money in buying the ingredients and making the product than they did selling the products. Also, they may have charged a low price for the smoothies. Another business that has a product in demand, but doesn't make a profit would be Yahoo. They have E-mail, news, videos, and much more. Also, the value of a share of stock for Yahoo is over $200 right now.
3. If Mr. Skonecki taxes 25% of our profits, then we lose 1/4 of what we have earned. We will have less to spend on improving the business like buying more refreshments like brownies and more cookies.
One of the taxes that the American Government has collected throughout history is the Social Security Tax. It gave people without jobs some extra money during the Great Depression. It also helped out people who were seniors, poor, handicapped, or certain minors. There was also the taxes in the Colonial Times from the King of England. There was a tax on tea, there was a tax on stamps, and there was even a tax on imports and exports to the cities.
4. The United States purchased the area known as Alaska from the Russians on March 30, 1867. It was bought for 7.2 million dollars at two cent per acre. In today's money, the total sum that was paid would be about $111 million. For many years, it was known as regular land, until on January 3, 1959 when it became the 49th state of the U.S.A. It was named from Aleut which meant "the mainland." or Alyeska meaning the "great land."
5. Do you think it’s good for your business to have competition, or would you like to get rid of your competition?
I thinks its good for our business to have competition, because then we would learn what to change in ours.
Rather like make brownies rather than popcorn, or lower the price to see if we get more customers.
